Bob Hale has led the Houston Association of REALTORS® since 1988 as its president and CEO, which means this marks his 35th year in that role—and 50th anniversary overall at HAR. He serves as HAR’s chief strategist and visionary for both the association and MLS. Under his leadership, HAR has grown to be the second-largest local REALTOR® association in the country with more than 49,000 members. Bob launched HAR.com in 1997 and that foresight is one of the primary reasons why Houston is the only market in the country where a national portal is not the most frequently visited real estate website. With eight million visitors each month, HAR.com went statewide a few years ago and now displays the listings for sale from across Texas through partnerships with the MLSs. More recently, Bob led HAR during the COVID-19 pandemic, turning HAR into a hybrid workforce and delivering virtual member services, training, and technology tools. Early in 2021, Bob guided the in-house development and launch of ShowingSmartTM, which is a showing service with a staffed call center for HAR MLS subscribers—at no additional cost. Recognized with virtually every industry honor, Bob epitomizes the various titles of “Most Influential,” “Most Admired,” and “Most Innovative” that have been bestowed upon him during the years.
