Stephen Fessel has spent 19 years working in local, state, and federal government, with the past 14 years as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was assigned to the Boston Field Office, Providence Resident Agency where he worked white collar and counterterrorism matters. In 2016, he was promoted to the Counterterrorism Division, Terrorist Financing Operations Section at FBI Headquarters. During that time, he led a private sector outreach initiative to financial institutions to proactively identify and disrupt global terrorist facilitation networks. In September 2019, Stephen Fessel was selected as the Supervisory Special Agent for New Orleans Field Office Complex Financial Crimes Program overseeing all money laundering, healthcare fraud, and financial crimes. In 2021, he took over the Cyber Program covering both criminal and national security investigations across Louisiana. Currently, Stephen Fessel is the FBI New Orleans Branch III A/Assistant Special Agent in Charge over all national security programs.
